PRESIDENT

Ulemu is a 23 year old final year law student at Chancellor College. She is an activist passionate about using human rights as a means of achieving a more just society. She was Chairperson of the Gender Justice Clinic, Chanco (2016-2018). In 2018, Ulemu was celebrated by UN Women as a young emerging activist. She is currently a member of the Amnesty International Youth Task Force and a board member of the Malawi chapter of Pepeta Africa.

VICE PRESIDENT

Maziko Matemvu is a human rights activist, intersectional Feminst, Author, TV host and SRHR expert from Malawi. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, minoring in social work.

SECRETARY

My name is Zaithwa Katherine Milanzi, a Malawian national, poet, spoken word artist and a dedicated feminist. I am 22 years old and pursuing my LLB honors degree at Chancellor college, University of Malawi. I became a feminist before I knew the label attached to the ideology I live by, and I am a survivor of child molestation in the home for me.

HEAD OF FINANCE

Feminism for me means equality in all walks of life. My name is Yankho Mthindi and I am 26 years old and I graduated from the university of Malawi Chancellor college with a bachelor’s degree in science, focusing in Earth science and Geography. I am currently Working for the department of water development in the ministry of Irrigation and water development.

HEAD OF PROGRAMS

Law Student and political scientist
Has worked in the governance sector and now has a growing interest in human rights with an emphasis on social justice.
A member of the Oxfam Youth Taskforce for Southern Africa.

HEAD OF COMMUNICATIONS

Jennifer Lipenga is a 21 year old passionate feminist and a final year student at the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Gender and Development. She has been working as the head of communications for the Young Feminists Network since November 2018. Jennifer is co- founder of a club within their college campus, established in 2018 that works to end all forms of gender based violence that occurs around the college. Jennifer works as a programs associate at Every Girl in School Alliance (EGISA) a non-governmental organization that works to enhance girls’ access to quality and equitable education through enhancing social accountability systems and ending all forms of violence against women and girls.

HEAD OF EVENTS

Jessica Beverly Zimba is a passionate social feminist, human Rights defender and a Marketer. She is the Head of Events for the Young Feminist Network

Programs Officer

Thelma Kaliu,  is an advocate on the forefront of advocacy initiatives for women’s rights, economic justice and advancement of human rights for all. She has more than 5 years  of experience  practicing and active  in feminist movements particularly in: ending violence against women, girls and women empowerment; male engagement in gender equality; gender responsive budgeting; gender financing and accountability and data disaggregation for effective policy outcomes, and gender analysis. She has extensive experience in feminist research, practice and movement building.

COMMITTEE MEMBER

Felicity Mwale is a 19 year old student currently studying in her third year at the Catholic University of Malawi. She is a liberal and intersectional feminist and she is passionate about equality between sexes and advocating for women’s rights. She stands for rights and empowerment of all women. And, she strongly believes in equality and equity amongst everyone.
She is the events coordinator and executive team member of the Young Feminist Network

COMMITTEE MEMBER

My name is Bridget Oscar Phiri and I am 24 year old born on the 28th of May 1996. A Bachelor’s Degree holder obtained from the Catholic University of Malawi (Bachelor of Social Science, Social work) Currently working with Action Aid Malawi as the Youth Project Coordinator. A Lead of the Young Feminist Network in Lilongwe and an Executive member in the Network.
