WHO WE ARE
THE YOUNG FEMINISTS NETWORK (YFN) WAS FOUNDED IN NOVEMBER, 2018. IT IS A NETWORK OF YOUNG MALAWIAN FEMINISTS WHICH SERVES TO ACT AS A PLATFORM FOR DIALOGUE, AND TO ENGAGE IN ACTIVISM FOR GENDER EQUALITY AND SOCIAL JUSTICE.
It arose out of the realization that young Malawian feminists do not have a single safe space to discuss issues affecting them and their country, and to come up with effective solutions
Furthermore, it seeks to contribute towards the strengthening of a coherent, inclusive feminist movement in Malawi. Therefore, with the common ideology that is feminism, YFN aims to play an active role in addressing issues which affect society, especially with respect to gender equality and human rights.
A society in which boys, girls, men and women and those who identify as non-binary enjoy
equal rights and opportunities, free from violence and oppression.
To create a safe space for Malawian youth to have dialogue regarding gender issues and human
rights, and to engage in activism for social justice.
